When everyday products like – grocery bags, to-go containers, and soft-drink bottles – are taxed and regulated inconsistently within a state, it creates costly problems for manufacturers, retailers, and working families. These 'nuisance issues' add to local tax burdens and corrode the free market for entire states.
A statewide survey reveals a supermajority (76%) of registered Oklahoma voters oppose allowing cities and towns to impose new taxes and fees for paper and plastic products. And 71% of respondents said they are less likely to vote for a candidate who supports increasing taxes on paper or plastic products. (Download the poll below)
